Purchasing Representative

New Castle, DE

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Handle inventory supply and purchasing activities for assigned suppliers.
• Initiate purchase orders using historical data, current sales trends, inventory needs, and promotional plans.
• Monitor inventory levels and make purchasing decisions to support required inventory days and positive financial results.
• Create, enter, review, and update purchase orders and related information in company systems.
• Review supplier invoices, pricing, freight invoices, FOB pricing, and transportation charges for accuracy.
• Coordinate with suppliers and transportation companies regarding orders, pricing, deliveries, and shipping costs.
• Review sales, inventory, product flow, forecasts, and load scheduling information.
• Support promotional planning by reviewing price promotions and communicating promotional and product information to Sales Management and the Sales Force.
• Maintain supplier product information and review new and discontinued products.
• Schedule deliveries and coordinate transportation quotes when needed.
• Review and enter new products into the system.
• Work with Supplier Representatives and Sales Management regarding new products, product packages, promotions, and upcoming needs.
• Identify and report purchasing, ordering, invoice, and product discrepancies.

Required Qualifications:

• Five years’ minimum experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to exercise technical problem-solving skills and crisis management.
• Must possess the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written; verbal interpersonal and communication skills.
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective organization skills including the ability to prioritize and plan work.
• Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Software, OpenDoc and AS400 a plus.
• Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
