Non-Alcoholic Sales Manager

New Castle, DE

Job Description:

The Non-Alcoholic Sales Manager is responsible for a defined portfolio in chain and non-traditional independent retailer locations. The NASM will call upon/visit accounts the day prior to delivery garnering orders and shelf/display space. The following day the NASM will deliver products from the previous days call and merchandise. Manages delivery inventory and daily settlement of the route.

Sales Prowess Requirements:

  • Capable of forging DSD relationships at the store level through account level hierarchy (receiver, Grocery Manager, and Store manager).
  • Able to identify display, shelf and cold box placements at retail.
  • Capable of unleashing an organized sale presentation.

Days and Hours of Operation:

  • 40 hours per week Monday- Friday
      • Morning product pickup at the warehouse.
      • Mid-morning sales calls and delivery.
      • Shift hours may vary during peak season and holiday weeks.
  • Communicate orders to Customer Service by 5pm.

Lifting and Physical Requirements:

On a repetitive basis, must be able to:

  • Lift 50lbs.
  • Fill shelves and display areas while moving one case at a time in a fast-paced environment.
  • Push/pull u-bouts with 50+ cases.
  • Climb up and down ladders while maintaining 3 points of contact.
  • Operate a hand jack pallet jack (non-motorized).

Daily Workflow

At the direction of the Sales Director:

  • Devise and communicate a weekly service plan.
  • Implement a service plan to foster relationships with account stakeholders.
  • Deliver to DSD accounts during optimal receiving hours.
  • Merchandise order to appropriate shelf locations on the sales floor while practicing rotation standards.
  • Breakdown packaging/cardboard and dispose of in the designated area.
  • Place empty pallets in designated area.
  • Place extra products in the backroom stock area in an organized fashion.

After truck delivery is complete:

  • Fill out of stock 6 pack sections and seasonal platforms.
  • Fill bulk sections.
  • Fill display areas and end caps.
  • Fill walk in cooler sections.
  • Communicates out of stock issues to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain and understand plan-o-grams by section.
  • Affix missing price points on shelf and displays.
  • Ensure products are not left on U-boats overnight.
  • Ensure product in the backroom is condensed and organized.
  •  Take initiative to ensure displays and bulk areas are full before leaving.

Customer Service

  • Always maintain a professional appearance and business acumen.
  • Follow the direction of Standard Distributing’s Supervisor for specific tasks.
  • Understand Standard Distributing’s product portfolio to promote our brands.
  • Assist store personnel with inventory locations and counts.
  • Assist store personnel with backroom product management.
  • Assist store customers (directionally) in a professional and courteous manner.

Follow Safety Protocol

  • Use proper lifting techniques.
  • 3 points of contact while on ladders.
  • Place broken/damage items in the appropriate area and notify Supervisor.
  • Clean up any spilled liquid that happened because of merchandising and notify store personnel.
  • Notify store personnel of spilled liquid to ensure cleanup and proper wet floor signs are displayed.
  • Use of cell phones and/or headphones is not permitted while performing duties on and off the sales floor.
  • Notify the Supervisor immediately of any accident or injury.
