The 25th Annual People’s Festival Tribute to Bob Marley will take place July 20 2019 in the heart of downtown Wilmington across N Market St. Featuring live entertainment inside The Queen located at 500 N Market St. in addition to the street festival across the plaza. Robert Nesta Marley (A.K.A. Bob Marley) rose to star-status by delivering his message of tolerance globally through the power of music with hits like “One Love,” “Three Little Birds,” and “Redemption Song”. At the request of Marley’s beloved mother, Ibis Pitts brought the first Marley tribute to fruition in 1995. It is the mission of People’s Festival to bring a world-class Reggae celebration to the community of Wilmington as it was Marley’s adopted hometown outside of Jamaica. Since establishment, thousands of people continue to attend this unique promotion of peace, love, and unity including local rising talent and international icons such as; Richie Havens, KRS 1, Damien “Junior Gong” Marley, Toots & The Maytals, Luciano, Third World, SOJA, Slightly Stoopid, and more.
